Everyone had a blast decorating her On Board 9 x 9″ Clipboard with her choice of Designer Series Paper. I chose the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Collection 2008. I just love how it turned out! It is my mom’s favorite picture of us three children. I made this for her Mother’s Day gift. She was thrilled.
Doesn’t it look like the clip was attached after the board was decorated? Exactly what I was going for! Let me share with you what I did to accomplish that look.
First, I cut a piece of card stock the length of the clipboard (in this case 9 inches).
Then I layed the card stock piece over the clip being sure to square up with the top edge and sides.
Next I used my Stylus to trace around the clip.
With my Paper Snips, I carefully trimmed the trace marks. The fit was not quite right at this point, so I took a pencil and traced again. Start off with cutting on the inside of your trace marks. You can always cut away more, adding it back isn’t a good option.
The template was then used over and over by the students in the class.
It took some foolin’ around with, but was worth every bit of the time and effort it took. It will go quicker for you with the instructions I provided above.
The finishing touch on the clipboard was using the Pretties Kit with the chocolate satin ribbon from the Theater Ribbon Originals.
Here are pictures of the other clipboards made in the class. Each one graciously gave me permission to post her creation on my website.
