The wedding favors are done! I am excited to share them with you. I have never seen anything done like this before.
My downline, Monica Lehnen, and I were talking about her pop-up die cakes fom a mother-daughter tea at her church. She was assigned to make favors for over 150 (bless her heart, 150+!). She then made mention of the bride and groom die-cuts that are included with the cake die. Well, my ears perked right up. With ideas flying back and forth, here is the final product. A bride and groom sitting on a cake top.
How stinking cute is that?! The favor started with a white tealight candle from Gold Canyon. My fresh fragrant choices for the favors are Clean Sheets and Relaxing. Both candles are white ,with a clear holder.
The bride and groom die-cut are from the Sizzix Three-Tier Cake Pop-Up Bigz XL Die. Next I needed a circle to fit in the top of the candle to hold my brides and grooms. The 1-3/8" Circle Punch is a nearly perfect fit. My circles are punched out of Whisper White card stock.
My husband used the Hobby Knife to cut slits in the each of the circles. (My husband has at least 100 Exacto Knives, no I am not exaggerating, wish I was, but always grabs my Hobby Knife. I think it is because the handle in thicker than regular Exacto Knives. I know it is easier for me to use). Anyway, back to my story, the bride and groom die-cuts then fit into the slit.
The bride and groom die-cuts then needed to folded over, each in opposite directions and taped. Until my husband came up with this solution, until then they were just slipping around and not standing up straight. My husband to the rescue again.
And, you would not believe how excited I was when the Organza Ribbon I used on the wedding invites is the perfect width of the tealight candle. I love it when everything coordinates. I used the Mini Glue Dots to attach the ribbon to the candle.
My cake top (candle) is sitting on a Pretty in Pink Scallop Circle. I printed their names and the wedding date. I am expecting the wedding guests will just have to pick up the favors for a closer look. When they turn them over, the will see the names. I used the same font the bride wanted on her wedding invitations.
Oh, and the I did not need to use any adhesive on the the Whisper White circles. I just pressed them down into the wax. When tipped to view the bottom, the tops stayed on. Of course, you cannot pick them up by the bride and groom and expect them to stay.
Are you ready for this? I have shared how much I love coordination, well, another wedding item is coordinating beautifully – the wedding bubbles! I went online to find wedding bubbles and found some with a bride in white and a groom in black on the lids! How stinking cool is that?
I found the wedding bubbles for $8 for 24 at www.annsbridalbargains.com. I am so thrilled I can hardly stand it. Ann's Bridal Bargains shipped when promised. Shhh! Don't tell the bride and groom (my little brother). The bubbles are a surprise. I am counting on them being too busy to be checking out my blog. Now that I think of it, the wedding favors are a surprise too. My future sister-in-law knows I am doing favors with Gold Canyon Candles but has no idea what. You have to love that kind of trust. But, I am not worried. Who wouldn't love these?
