Welcome to the Week One of the Stamping Smiles Valentine of Love! Our Valentine project this week is a card made with the limited-edition Stampin' Up! Happy Valentine Heart single stamp. You will find more information about the single Valentine stamp lower in the post.
The Happy Valentine Heart stamp was designed to be punched with the Full Heart Punch. Which just happens to layer beautifully with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. How to do you like them apples? In this case, hearts?
My heart shaped card opens at the top. Making a folding heart card is quite easy when you have the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and a Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.
You will want to use the second largest Heart Framelits Die in the collection. Place on a folded sheet of Primrose Petals Card Stock (one of the colors in the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) used for this handmade card). My card stock measures 4-1/2" x 9". A little longer than needed but better than not long enough. 🙂
Place your card stock on your Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cut Machine using this sandwich:
Multipurpose Platform on Tab 1 or no tabs open
Cutting Plate
Folded sheet of card stock
Cutting Plate
Place the Heart Framelits Die a little off the edge. The less you die-cut beyond the fold, the more full your heart card will be.
Crank your Big Shot sandwich through. Just like that, on the other side you will have a heart-shape card!
To complete this card design, you will need the next two smaller in size Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Die-cut Stampin' Up! More Amore Specialty (DSP) with the next smaller one used for the card base.
Die-cut Pool Party Card Stock with the next smaller Framelits Die.
Stamp the Happy Valentine Heart stamp with Primrose Classic Stampin' Pad ink on Very Vanilla Card Stock (the neutral color used for the More Amore Specialty DSP). Punch out with the Full Heart Punch.
We are not quite do with hearts yet. Punch a small heart out of Pool Party Card Stock with the Owl Punch. It adds a nice little touch of coordinating color.
The key to the heart, no to the look, of this card is the use of Stampin' Dimensionals for layering. Adding dimension to your card layers is the easiest way to get a lot more bang for your buck.
Of course, we cannot forget the inside! Die-cut a Very Vanilla Card Stock heart with the third largest Hearts Collection Framelits Die. Stamp the "xoxo" stamp from the also limited-edition My Little Valentine stamp set with Primrose Petals Classic Stampin' Pad ink. From the leftover scrap of More Amore Specialty DSP, punch two hearts with the Owl Builder Punch. Adhere one on each side of the stamped xoxo.
