Stampin' Up! Ornamental Pine cardClean, simple and elegant describes this Stampin’ Up! Ornamental Pine Christmas card from the Founder’s Circle swap.

How the pine needles and branch line up perfectly from the top layer to the lower layer makes you think the card artist is either very good or very lucky.  Her card is quite lovely, so we know she’s very good.  If you could peek under the first two layers, you’d see that luck had nothing to do with it, it’s all in the technique.

On a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, she used a temporary adhesive, like Dotto, to place a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock in the center.  You don’t have to use a temporary adhesive, but it’ll make it a lot easier to stamp because the cardstock won’t move on you as you press down.  Stamp the beautiful pine branch with Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad ink on the top third of the smaller piece of vanilla cardstock with the rest stamped onto the larger piece.  Stamp the small ink splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Stampin’ Pad ink.

Continuing with the small vanilla piece, again with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Stampin’ Pad ink, stamp the pine cone as if hanging from the branch.  Stamp the “May the peace . . .” sentiment with Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad ink.

Lift up the smaller piece and layer onto 2-3/4″ x 4″ Very Vanilla Cardstock.  Next use SNAIL Adhesive to adhere the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla Cardstock to Very Vanilla card base measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded in half at 5-1/2″.

Tie Gold Baker’s Twine around the card front into a bow.  Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the small vanilla piece to the card front.

That’s it!  Clean and simple.  And simply lovely.

The 2-Way Glue Pen can also be used as a temporary adhesive when left to air dry without adhering to another piece of paper.  But, if you would rather not need to wait for drying time, I recommend (and love and use) Dotto Adhesive.
