Winter scene with Stampin’ Up! Ornamental Pine

Have you ordered the Stampin’ Up! Ornamental Pine Stamp Set yet?  If not, this winter scene card will be the card that will have your fingers clicking over to my online store to order it before January 5, 2015!

Is this not one of the prettiest cards you’ve seen with Ornamental Pine?  My friend Sandi Hartka made this for me.  It looks complicated, but isn’t.  Sandi’s beautiful blue background wasn’t sponged or watercolored, she started with Soft Sky Cardstock and stamped on it.

What’s intriguing about her Ornamental Pine card is that often when you stamp color onto colored cardstock, the colors change and can look funky.  Not at all true of this handmade Christmas card.

The pine was stamped with Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pad ink.  The pine cone with Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad ink.  Looking at it closely you’ll see she stamped each pine cone at least twice.  That’s how she got them so nice and dark against both the Soft Sky Cardstock and over top of the dark green of the pine needles.

She made snow by stamping the splatter dots from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  She also sponged VersaMark ink aroung the edges and embossed with White Emboss Powder.  Pretty, pretty.

Sandi loves glitter and shine.  She added three Rhinestone Jewels in the blue and Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details (very fine glitter glue) on the pine cones.

For a coordinating touch of shine, the Christmas Wishes greeting, included in the Ornamental Pine Stamp Set, was embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and layer with a strip of Silver Foil Sheets.

 The Soft Sky Cardstock is layered with Mossy Meadow Cardstock.  Just a little bit for contrast against the Whisper White Cardstock base.
