Sweet and simple Christmas cardUse the incredibly cute deer from the Stampin’ Up! Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper for sweet and simple Christmas cards.

A friend’s daughter wants to make her Christmas cards this year. She is in love with the deer on one patterned papers from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper. Who isn’t?!  She searched all over Pinterest for ideas and found one she liked. The card has a lot of layers and the embellishments pushed the cost out of her budget.

We showed her several less expensive card ideas only to be vetoed. She has her heart set on those deer. Completely understanding that because we’ve all been there, I designed three sweet and simple Christmas cards for her, one for the deer laying down, one for the deer standing up and one for the deer jumping through the air.

The Merry Christmas greeting is from the Snow Place Stamp Set. It was used on that card she found on Pinterest and liked it with her deer. The font is cute, like the deer. The strip of diagonal striped paper is also from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper. She’ll have more than enough with the strips being only 1/2″ wide. An economical Christmas card with the 4-1/4″ x 1/2″ striped paper the only layer on the 4-1/4″ x 11″ Very Vanilla Cardstock card base.

Linen thread was added for an inexpensive finishing touch. A little bit of country for the country gal.

With country in mind, I added the snowflakes, included in the Snow Place Stamp Set, in Crumb Cake.

So not to overtake the incredibly cute deer, I stamped on a piece of scrap paper to lighten the ink before stamping on the front of the card. The jumping deer forced a minor change in the placement of Merry Christmas.

Liking the snowflakes, added them to the third card using the standing deer.
