Birthdays are the perfect time to create personalized cards for the special people in your life! My latest design is a heartfelt card made for my little brother, who absolutely loves trains. Using the Stampin’ Up! Greatest Adventure Stamp Set, I customized this project to reflect his unique interests—and his favorite color.

A New Spin on a Stampin’ Up! Sample

This card is inspired by a Stampin’ Up! sample, but I made some changes to give it a personal touch. The original design featured a warm pink or light orange sky, but I swapped it out for a Balmy Blue sky to match my brother’s favorite color.

I also made the card larger—5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″—and added layering for extra impact. The train image, originally hand-trimmed on the sample, now sits on a Basic Gray layer with a Balmy Blue Cardstock base. To complete the look, I changed the embellishments to better complement the blue sky.

A Basic Gray layer to frame the stamped panel and create depth.

These subtle upgrades gave the card a polished, layered look while maintaining its masculine charm—perfect for a train enthusiast like my brother!
