Cover Pictured here is the cover page of the Birthday Calendar from my Perpetual Birthday Calendar Class.

The cover was a blast to stamp!  Big Birthday Candle in the Spring/Summer Collection 2008 would have been perfect.  But, it was impossible to order the new stamp set in time for my class (Jan. 4).  So, necessity is the mother of invention.  I looked through the Spring/Summer Collection for a stamp that could be used as a flame.  Pick a Petal was perfect for a large flame and the front of my perpetual calendar.

The candle was created from rubber scraps I had saved to allow others to discover the ease the wonderful Craft & Rubber Scissors cut through the stamp rubber.  The Craft & Rubber Scissors are the Cadillac of scissors.  If you have not yet purchased them, do not wait another moment!

I then mounted the long scrap piece of rubber to the wood block my sweet husband cut for me.  It worked in a pinch but certainly makes one appreciate the quality of Stampin’ Up!s wood block mounts!

After the flame was stamped, I simply filled in the outline image with a sponge dauber.  I then used the Only Orange and Brilliant Blue Stampin’ Write Markers from the Many Marvelous Markers to indicate heat at the bottom of the flame.

Be sure to check back to see the other months from my Birthday Calendar.
