In Northern Michigan, deer hunting is not just for sport, many depend on the meat to feed their families. Deer hunting is also a right of passage. A friend's son was deer hunting with my husband and shot his first deer. My apologies if this is an unpleasant subject for you. Personally, I would have to be mighty hungry to have to kill an animal, but I sure have eaten plenty of meat someone else had to kill first. 🙂
The young man was so excited to have shot his first deer. And, sparing you any gory details, he made an excellent shot. (Mind you, I never went to have a look for myself, hearing about is enough for this small town gal). My Forest Friends stamp set came immediately to mind to make a comical card to commemorate the occasion.
I stamped and cut out three deer in Chocolate Chip on Whisper White card stock. Even with the think legs, it was easy to cut out with my would-not-do-without Paper Snips. If you do not yet own the Paper Snips, run, don't walk, and order them online now!
I used my Close to Cocoa and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers to color the rubber of the tree stamp. I stamp three times before reinking. The lighter images give you the illusion of distance (things further away look lighter).
I layered my forest with Old Olive card stock and layered it all on Close to Cocoa card stock. You will find another card I made using the deer in Forest Friends stamp set here.
