How do you clean your rubber stamps? Do you use a cleaning solution or just plain water or baby wipes?
My first Stampin' Up! Demonstrator used plain water. She was my stamping expert since those first two workshops were my introduction to stamping. So, I did as she did.
Boy, was I ever upset when I took my clean stamp, according to her method, into a yellow ink pad. My image was ugly and the ink pad a mess!
Shortly after that experience, I decided to start my own stamping business as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Wanting to know everything I could about my new business, I read my Demonstrator Manual from cover to cover. Not only did I learn the policies of the company, how I would be compensated, rewards programs and how to promote within the company, I learned about every product Stampin' Up! carried.
One very important lesson I learned was how to properly clean my rubber stamps. Stampin' Up! carries a stamp cleaning pad and cleaner. The cleaning pad is named a Stampin' Scrub and the cleaner is named Stampin' Mist.
What I read made so much sense. The Stampin' Mist not only effectively cleans rubber stamps, but it also conditions the rubber. Until then, I had never considered the rubber could dry out by using water or baby wipes (which most have alcohol or another drying agent).
The Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist is very easy to use. First, you need to spray some Stampin' Mist on the cleaning side.
How do I know which is the "cleaning" side? Stampin' Up! is very clever. Cleaning side have water drops embossed by the lip.
When you are done stamping or want to change ink colors, you then gently scrub your rubber stamp on the cleaning side.
Then you dry and remove any residual ink on the drying side by gently rubbing your rubber stamp across the scrubbing pad.
So, there is no doubt which is the drying side, again Stampin' Up! had the scrub embossed with an umbrella keeping out the water drops.
You are now ready to put away your rubber stamps away or change colors.
When you are through stamping for the day, or you have used a lot of dark inks, you simply rinse your Stampin' Scrub under the facet with cool water and let it air dry.
If you are not currently using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist to clean and condition your rubber stamps, I encourage you start as soon as possible. You can order the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist in my online store.
