The Stampin' Up! Apothecary Art stamp set truly allows you to create handmade greeting cards that will let you declare that they are "a thing of beauty".
All of the elements came together for an elegant card. It is hard to pick a favorite when they all worked together so beautifully. Stampin' Up! really has a way of making it easy to create pretty handmade greeting cards with their coordinating products – card stock, ink, stamp sets, punches, ribbon, background paper, Big Shot dies and embossing folders and embellishments.
Let's take a look at the different elements of my card. To take just one away would entirely change the card. We'll start with the limited-edition Apothecary Art stamp set from the 2012 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. I stamped the pretty frame stamp with the Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad on Whisper White Card Stock.
After it was stamped, but not yet colored, I die-cut the stamped Whisper White Card Stock with the coordinating Labels Collection Framelits run through the Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.
Before setting my Big Shot aside, I die-cut the mat for the stamped and die-cut Whisper White Card Stock. My mat was die-cut from a piece of Blushing Bride Card Stock.
I watercolored the flowers with Blushing Bride and Riding Hood Red Classic Stampin' Pads and and Aqua Painter. The stems and leaves were watercolored with a Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Pad. The stamped frame image did not bleed when the watery ink touched it because it was stamped with the permanent ink Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad.
Did you see the tiny pearls in the center of each of the two largest flowers? A simple touch like this will make your greeting cards go from pretty to pretty special.
Not sure how noticeable my favorite touch is in the full picture. Have a closer look at the 3/8" Pleated Satin Blushing Bride Ribbon. While it is elegant on its own, take a gander at a pearl on each ruffle!
I got out the Basic Pearl Jewels to add to my flowers and then decided to see what they would look like on the ruffled ribbon. I thought it might make it gaudy, but using the smallest pearls added a touch of class.
Add all of the simple elements to a Basic Gray Card Stock base with the patterned Blushing Bride background paper from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, and it can be said my handmade greeting card is "a thing of beauty."
The Apothecary Art stamp set, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Blushing Bride 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon and Labels Collection Framelits are all from the 2012 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. Without a doubt, the pleated ribbon and Twitterpated Designer Series Paper will no longer be available after April 30, 2012 because they have 2010-2012 In Colors that will retire May 31, 2012.
