Long before the Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool was released, I liked adding an embossed frame to my handmade cards. An understated look that added a lot to a card. It sure is a lot easier now to do with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.
Then it gets better! Stampin’ Up! has introduced the Borders Scoring Plate in the Stampin’ Up! 2013 Spring Catalog to use with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Oh, joy!
Now we can do so much more than straight lines! Look at all the fancy dancy borders you can add to your paper crafts!
It truly is remarkably how adding a decorative embossed edge can make such a huge difference. If you have never used a scoring board, let me give you a quick explanation. You press down with a stylus while following the lines. Your lines will either be straight with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, diagonal with the Diagonal Scoring Plate (used with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool) or one of the beautiful borders shown above with the Borders Scoring Plate (also used with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool).
My handmade greeting card below is an example of how an embossed border steps up the card a notch.
Staring at my pretty new scoring board and trying decide which one to use, I sure got excited when I thought the one large scallop border was the same size and shape as one of the borders on my newly purchased Tasteful Trim Bigz Die. It turned out to be quite true!
As if I did not already love my new Borders Scoring Plate, now I was madly in love! You absolutely have to do a little happy dance when you find another coordinating gem in your stash of Stampin’ Up! goodies.
Let’s see how observant you are. Did you happen to notice my decorate border is de-bossed? The embossing (pushed out) is to the inside. Using the die-cut border as a guide for placement to do the embossing had me ending up with a de-bossed border. Those are attractive too. This picture provides a closer view.
Upon reflection, had I temporarily adhered the border to the inside, could I have ended up with a scored border that followed the border? I think so, but something I absolutely have to try out and let you know.
If you have not yet ordered the Stampin’ Up! Borders Scoring Plate yet, you really must add this to your stash of stamping supplies! Order your own Borders Scoring Plate now in my online store!
