Do you ever tickle yourself with how you think something will be only to discover it was not at all like you thought?  That was certainly the case with the new Stampin’ Up! Simply Pressed Buttos & Blossoms Clay Molds.  It was so exciting to know we can make buttons and flowers in any of the Stampin’ Up! colors we wanted.  Not just flowers but pretty, pretty flowers.

Pressing the Simply Pressed Clay into the mold was certainly easy enough.  As was adding some color with a Classic Ink Refill or from a Classic Stampin’ Pad (read that in the instructions).  You can also, according to the directions, add color from your Stampin’ Write Markers.  Did not try that but can happily share the ink refill and pad both worked quite well.

After pressing the flowers into the molds, you need to let them air dry.  It had been said that when using ink to color the clay it increases the drying time.   How long, I did not know.  This is were my off thinking came in.  I would touch them every so often to see if they were dry expecting they would feel like ceramic when they did.  That did not happen.  I then carefully pressed the center of the flower to see if it smooshed.  It didn’t.  We had arrived at drying success.  They are firm to the touch.  The best I can describe it would be firm and a bit rubbery, certainly not hard like ceramic.

The “so many smiles . . .” stamp is from the Stampin’ Up! Petite Pairs stamp set.   It has greetings with coordinating sentiments.  This stamp set is especially nice when you only have a small area to stamp a greeting.

Most of the attention has been spent of the clay flowers.  Worth mentioning too are the Stampin’ Up! Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape that enhance and coordinate with the beautiful clay flowers on my handmade card.
