The price of a First Class stamp is going up 3 cents.  We only have two days left to purchase Forever stamps at the 46 cent price that will get our handmade cards to the recipient when the rates increase to 49 cents.  Read more about the 2014 Postal Rate increase.

The Forever Stamps was a pretty smart idea by the United States Postal Service.  We like getting a break on the price if we purchase before a price increase and not needing to add a second stamp while using up the old stamps.  There may be a small loss of revenue for the Post Office, but it must be easily offset by not needing to print new stamps with the price on them every year when the prices increase.

If you like to think really ahead, you can see what your Post Office has left in Christmas stamps.  You are working on this year’s Christmas cards, right?   Would be a good idea but flower stamps are calling my name.
