My July thank you card started with Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set in Elegant Eggplant. Elegant Eggplant for the ink of the flowers and words, and Elegant Eggplant for the cardstock layer. I liked it. My hesitation was that Elegant Eggplant didn’t look summery. Despite all the white.
What says “summer” better than a cheerful yellow? The next variation was the flowers stamped with Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin’ Pad ink. The thank you in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The cardstock layer in Daffodil Delight. Now we’ve got it. Right? Not quite. Still felt like it needed something. Time for another adjustment.
My third variation changed the Daffodil Delight layer to Basic Black. Yellow and black are stunning.
With my two Daffodil Delight variations sitting side by side, I was torn which I liked better. Which one was the best? Which one was good enough to show my appreciation to my customers? The neither.
What would it look like if I mixed what I like best about both? The Basic Black Cardstock was a nice pop of color but seemed to overwhelm the handmade card a bit. The flow of the Daffodil Delight Cardstock layer was also desirable.
A smaller touch of black in the center of the flower punched with the Fun Flower Punch was the “just right” touch I wanted. It was easy to do because the center punches out beautifully with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. And that’s how the final variation of my Beautiful Bunch card came to be.
Place your July Stampin’ Up! order in my online store www.shopwithshelly.com, and I’ll say thank you with my Beautiful Bunch thank you card!
Stamping Smiles,
Now you’ve seen a peek behind the curtain of how a card I share with you comes to be. Often there are many more attempts until it’s just right.
