. . . as we mourn the loss of my friend Dixie Pechacek. Dixie went home to be with the Lord yesterday. Of that, there is no doubt. As I wipe away the tears, there is a lot of comfort in knowing she is in glory.
Dixie was the most generous person I’ve ever known. She was generous with praise, her time. talents and resources. She gave and gave and gave and was so appreciative of anything done for her. Dixie was a great example of a Christian woman to emulate.
Why am I telling you about Dixie? Because Dixie was not only my friend, but a downline that became a precious friend. Dixie became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator on April 1, 2002.
I met Dixie when we lived in Sealy, Texas. Her daughter-in-law invited her to one of my Stampin’ Up! parties. Dixie was immediately hooked. And she wanted to share her new hobby with everyone. She hosted a Stampin’ Up! party for me. The room was filled and full of energy with others who wanted to learn how to stamp too. Dixie’s enthusiasm was infectious.
My stamping business was growing so fast, I could hardly keep up with the parties. Dixie’s friends wanted more parties. I knew I needed help. One day I picked up the phone and called Dixie and asked her if she had given any thought to joining Stampin’ Up!? Despite being involved with church, her husband’s business, a devoted grandmother who never missed a game, she added a stamping business to her plate because she loved the art of papercrafting and Stampin’ Up! products. She did it well for nearly 13 years. I loved being a part of it with her.
It was from Dixie that I learned what an elegant accent Basic Black Cardstock added. She laughed and said it was an easy out. She was quite talented. Very humble, while at the same time, full of praise. It was always a delight to listen to her go on about my cards. I’d laugh when she’d say Stampin’ Up! should hire me to make sample cards for them. Even though I laughed it off, I’m sure going to miss her compliments.
A couple of months after Dixie joined Stampin’ Up! with me, we moved from Texas. Distance did not keep our friendship from growing. A month never went by without a phone call. It’s hard to believe after all this time that Dixie won’t be on the other end.
My heart hurts, tears roll down my face. I’m eternally grateful that Stampin’ Up! brought Dixie into my life.
