Black, vanilla and a touch of red is A Happy Thing

My girlfriend was over stamping with me this evening. I was busy making more projects for my exclusive 12 Weeks of Sale-a-bration emails, a few more Valentine projects I’ll be posting very soon and another project for a new offering coming soon (watch for the details!).

She just loves the bird from the 2015 Sale-a-bration A Happy Thing Stamp Set. She had the exact picture of how she wanted color him. She started with stamping him on Whisper White Cardstock. The Skin Tone Blendabilties are great for, well, skin. Not so much for birds.

The color she wanted him to be was mostly vanilla. Why fight it? Out came a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. You can see she didn’t do much coloring, but perhaps more than you think.

His head and chest are colored with the Light Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities Marker. The branch, his eye and beak with the Light Crumb Cake Blendabilities. The flowers with Calypso Coral.

Seeing him colored on the Very Vanilla, I excited pulled out my new package of Typeset Specialty Paper. It’s one of the very few Designer Series Paper using Very Vanilla for the neutral color. With the black, vanilla and red (we’re pretending), it was perfect.

My suggestion was not layer with Real Red Cardstock close to the bird. If put right up to the Cherry Cobbler, it would be more noticeable it wasn’t quite the same color. But with the distance and color in between, you’d almost swear I somehow got my hands on Real Red Blendabilities.

This handmade card would be great for a masculine birthday! And so doggone quick to make. Fast and fabulous cards are always a good thing.
