Clean and Simple Stampin' Up! Remarkable You CardWhen you think of calla lilies, do you think white flowers as on my clean and simple card made with the new Stampin’ Up! Remarkable You Stamp Set?

Did you know calla lilies come in other colors too? I didn’t. My friend told me she has several in a variety of colors. Well, now.

She brought her Blackberry Bliss calla lily so I could take a picture. Isn’t that pretty?!

Blackberry Bliss Calla Lily

The calla lilies were stamped on the new Thick Whisper White Cardstock. One my stampers asked me if I had watercolored on the Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Not yet. I was excited to have it for a sturdier clean and simple card base and hadn’t given it much thought beyond that. I told her I’d try it out and tell her how well it worked.

I started with Hello Honey for the stamens and Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pads for the stems, giving the stamens time to dry before adding Blackberry Bliss ink. It was pretty with just the stamens and stems colored. A card my friend would love for her, ah, belated birthday card.  The Stampin’ Up! Remembering Your Birthday Stamp Set has two stamps perfect for when you need a belated birthday card.

The Thick Whisper White Cardstock held up quite well with little warping as I kept adding more and more Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad ink with my Aqua Painter. The regular Whisper White Cardstock would have buckled and warped under all the water I used to get the deep color.

A shadow of Soft Sky Classic Stampin’ Pad ink was added around and in between the calla lilies. The Whisper White layer was attached to a Thick Whisper White Cardstock base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The foam adhesive dots is how to make adding white on white look so attractive.

To step it up, I added a splatter of ink with the marker spritzer tool and Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker.

It’s  good tool if your hands can give it a good squeeze. For a delicate spray of ink as on my handmade birthday card, hold the spritzer about five inches from your card. Hold closer for larger, closer splatter.
