Stampin' Up! The Wilderness Awaits Birthday CardMy dad’s 80th birthday. A special handmade birthday card was a must. My handmade card made with the Stampin’ Up! The Wilderness Awaits and Wonderland Stamp Sets is pretty simple but packed with meaning.

I was painting, stamping, the view of their pond. We had mallard ducks when I was a kid. And plenty of wild ducks came for a visit. Those were the only ones that could fly because our ducks were what you’d politely call “healthy” birds. 🙂  The beautiful mallard duck on my card is from the majestic The Wilderness Awaits Stamp Set.

On the other side of the rather large pond, we planted at least 100 evergreen trees that are now huge. Those are the evergreen trees from the new Wonderland (Holiday Catalog) Stamp Set that I simply cannot get enough of.

Stampin' Up! The Wilderness Awaits Birthday Card

Here are the steps to make my masculine birthday card.

  1. Stamp the mallard duck stamp with Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad in on Watercolor Paper. Punch with the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch (the supplies pictured below and linked into my online store easy shopping).
  2. Use an AquaPainter to color the mallard, cat tails and water. The mallard was colored with Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad ink and shaded with Chocolate Chip. The beak is Crushed Curry, the feet are Pumpkin Pie and the sky is Soft Sky.
  3. Stamp the evergreen trees from the Wonderland Stamp Set with Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin’ Pad ink on Whisper White Cardstock. The size is 4″ x approximately 4-1/4″ (I gave the card to my dad before jotting down the measurements).
  4. Run a wet, but clean, Aqua Painter over the evergreen trees. This is to blur the clean lines to give them a watercolored look to coordinate with the mallard.
  5. Use Fast Fuse Adhesive to adhere a 4″ x 1/2″ strip of Chocolate Chip Cardstock to the bottom side the tree stamped Whisper White Cardstock.
  6. Stamp “happy” and “birthday” from the Crazy About You Stamp Set with Chocolate Chip Cardstock on 4″ x 1″ Whisper White Cardstock. Adhere with Fast Fuse to bottom of 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Mossy Meadow Cardstock card base 1/4″ from bottom. Use Fast Fuse Adhesive to adhere tree stamped piece to card 1/4″ from the top.
  7. Apply a couple of lines of Fast Fuse Adhesive where you are going to attached the mallard stamped circle. Look some Linen Thread and press into the Fast Fuse. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the circle to the card, as shown.
  8. Add a Chocolate Chip Candy Dot to either side of the Happy Birthday greeting.
