Have you ever created an ombre background for your hand stamped cards? Ombre is when colors shade into each other, usually from light to dark. It’s an eye-catching look. Today we’re going to compare the ombre background technique on mat white cardstock versus Glossy White Cardstock.
Click to watch my ombre technique mat vs. glossy cardstock tutorial here if the video is not displaying properly on your device.
Isn’t it remarkable how easy it is to add multiple colors to cardstock that blend into each other?! You can do the ombre technique in shades of any color you like. You can either use shades of colors that are much more similar or a larger range, as I did in the video for my Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasons card.
Here’s a hint when using Glossy White Cardstock for your hand stamped cards: If I hadn’t stamped my greeting right onto the ombre background, I would have stamped it on Glossy White Cardstock and not Whisper White Cardstock. It looks a bit off to have both white gloss and mat finish. Try it and see if you agree.
