Some papercrafts don’t like to color. Others enjoy the peacefulness they experience while coloring and shading.  My Stampin’ Up! Easter Friends cards offer a solution for both!

My first handmade Easter card idea is not colored. The stamps in the set have enough detail to simply stamp. My desire was to have the bunny in the softer Crumb Cake and the birds in Daffodil Delight. They were too light for my liking. My remedy was to stamp the bunny with Soft Suede ink and the birds with Bumblebee ink. They look quite good stamped without coloring in the medium colors. You can easily see all the detail.

This time, I did use Crumb Cake and So Saffron to color the baby animals. They look extra soft because the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink was stamped off onto scrap paper twice before stamping the images to be colored. This provided a much more subtle gray. 

I used both the light and dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends for the bunny. The duckling and baby chick were colored with So Saffron and shaded with Light Daffodil Delight Blends. So soft it almost makes it seem it would also be so if you touched them.

How do you like the blue “sky” behind the baby animals? That was added courtesy of the Butterflies & Flowers Decorative Masks, Balmy Blue ink, and a Blending Brush. An easy way to add a blue sky.
