Shelly Godby One Million Sales Achiever Article

Shelly Godby met card making and Stampin’ Up! with reluctance and skepticism that quickly turned into amazement. She watched as a demonstrator stamped with clear ink and then poured gold powder on it, revealing the once invisible stamped image. She was stunned, and as she likes to say, “they had me when the powder stuck!” The demonstrator told her it wasn’t the best part yet, but Shelly was sold in that first magical moment—and has never turned back.

Shelly was so excited about the stamps and products that she began inviting friends and neighbors over to share her newfound craft. It was obvious to her husband Jim how much fun she was having, and he recognized the opportunity for Shelly to build her own business. At his suggestion, she became a demonstrator in 2001. He was by Shelly’s side as her biggest cheerleader from that moment forward.

Over the years, Shelly consistently grew her business despite the challenges life brings. For most of the past 21 years, she moved on average once a year for her husband’s work. With each move, she worked to find new customers and team members in every new city. She steadily created a community across the country, and her team became known as the Scattered Stampers. The last move was in 2013, when her husband’s health started to decline until he went home to be with the Lord in October 2019. She is so grateful for the flexibility to care for her husband and take him to every appointment and treatment. She relied again on that flexibility when her own health challenges appeared six weeks after his passing. Through it all, she never considered quitting but focused instead on the joy and much-needed distraction her customers and team provided for both Jim and herself.

Shelly is grateful for Stampin’ Up!’s high standards, support of their demonstrators, and the “vast number of remarkable, loving, kind, generous, and funny women” she has met. Her favorite part of being a team leader is helping other women believe in themselves and watching them achieve the level of success they want. She is thankful to God for providing this opportunity and giving her the strength and determination to reach the magnificent milestone of one million in sales!
