Following up on my fun fold card with the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set, I’m excited to share another stunning fun fold design! This time, I’ve paired soft lavenders and deep purples in the Perennial Lavender DSP to create an inviting, feel-good card that’s perfect for any occasion. The delicate floral patterns lend themselves beautifully to this unique fold, making it both eye-catching and simple to replicate.
Before we continue, I need to explain what DSP means. It’s short for Designer Series Paper, which is what Stampin’ Up! has named its scrapbook papers. Most are available in 12″ x 12″ sheets with a few available in 6″ x 6″. Another feature is they have double-sided patterns to offer up to 12 patterns in each pack and are heavier that what you find in most craft stores.
Even though the scrapbook paper is thicker than most, it isn’t (in my humble opinion) sturdy enough to be used as a card base by itself. I use the same color as the main color in the scrapbook paper as the card base. The reason is if I don’t perfectly cut the scrapbook paper to fit the card base (a high probability), it is not obvious. I still always do my best to have a perfect fit because neatness always counts in card making.
There are many patterns of Stampin’ Up! scrapbook paper, such as the Perennial Lavender DSP, that are so beautiful, they can be the focal point for your handmade cards. The large circle die-cut with the Deckled Circles Dies is gorgeous! It’s worthy of being framed as artwork. Artwork because it is. Stampin’ Up! has their own artists who often paint each pattern that is then photographed to make the exclusive scrapbook paper with their colors. That makes it easy to pair it with cardstock that will coordinate.
The cardstock I used for the card base is Gorgeous Grape 8-1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock cut to size (measurements below). Unlike my Layers of Beauty fun fold card you can see here that I used the same color of cardstock for the card base and to strengthen the large die-cut circle, I used Crumb Cake 8-1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock for the circle because it’s the main color and helps to camouflage any area that isn’t perfectly matched.

This fun fold card is so simple, there isn’t much more to share about it other than I used a third patterns from the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper for the “you make my heart smile” greeting. It coordinates, naturally, and ties in with the Crumb Cake of the large die-cut circle. The pretty purple embellishments you see peppered on the handmade greeting card are Fine Purple Shimmer Gems that are also from the exclusive Stampin’ Up! color families.

Hi Shelly,
I was making your beautiful card for my club swap this month. I was happy that I had all the supplies needed. Well, when it was time to die cut, I couldn’t find the 4 inch deckle die. After looking for HOURS, I decided to use the 3 1/2 deckle circle, as I cut the last one, I noticed the 4 inch die, just to the left of my paper cutter! During the time I spent, I got some things organized!
Have a good evening
Laura
Hi! Oh, no. I have to admit that is how my craft room has gotten cleaned up and organized too. 🙂
