Summer Silhouettes is a two-step stamp set. Are you familiar with this term? Stampin' Up! has given stamp sets that you need to build to complete an image. This may mean of one of two different styles. One is an overlay with the detail stamped directly on top of a more solid stamped image. The solid image is to be stamped in a lighter color than the detail stamp directly on top.
The other style is when you use at least two different stamps to complete the image. Beverly's Summer Silhouettes card uses both styles of two-step stamps. Let's have a closer look at the flowers.
Purple arrow number one points to the flower center stamp Beverly stamped onto her yellow flower. This is an example of the detail stamp overlay onto another. Look at how the center stamped in a deeper color onto the flower really enhanced the stamped flower.
Purple arrow number two is pointing to the first part of the builder stamp image. The stamp is the stem and the prongs (lacking for a better term). Purple arrow number three points to the arched spray of flowers are then added with a second stamp. Two-step stamps allow you to easily get more than one color for your built stamped image.
Is the term two-step stamping making a lot more sense now? Pretty cool. Two-step stamp sets are high on my list of favorites.
