Even as a little girl, I loved beautiful stationary. My favorite Christmas cards were the ones that had the beautiful envelopes with the promise of a beautiful card inside. It was a promise that was always kept. This is why I strongly believe if you are going to spend the time to make beautiful handmade greeting cards, send them in equally beautiful envelopes.
The Stampin' Up! Whisper White Medium Envelopes and Very Vanilla Envelopes are not only a treat for the eyes, the softness of the paper is a delight for the fingertips.
When choosing one of the four medium Stampin' Up! envelopes for 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" handmade greeting cards, choose the one that matches the neutral card stock of your card. For example, if you used Stampin' Up! Whisper White Card Stock, use a Whisper White Medium Envelope. The same is true for Very Vanilla Card Stock and Crumb Cake Card Stock.
Virtually all the cards I make use either Whisper White or Very Vanilla Card Stock, so a coordinating envelope is easy.
If you were to use Naturals Ivory or Naturals White Card Stock, I would use Very Vanilla and Whisper White Envelopes, respectively. My choice when Watercolor Paper is my neutral is Whisper White Envelopes.
There are those occasions when no neutral (white, vanilla, etc) is used for your handmade card. Then I choose according to the warmth of the card. Bright, cheery colors or the softer subtles, Whisper White Envelopes are my choice. The rich, regal and browns will have a Very Vanilla Envelope to make the first impression.
There is an alternate, fun choice. The Clear Medium Envelopes have received some surprising delightful comments from the recipients. The card is enjoyed even before it is opened.
A quick tip on how I use the Clear Medium Envelopes: I cut a piece of computer paper into quarters, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", write the sender's address, stamp a coordinating image and slip in with the card. More attractive than a mailing label and easier to read.
