When making handmade cards, often you like to have your choice from a large variety of greeting stamps. The Stampin’ Up! Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set includes some classic greetings but the sentiments are not run-of-the-mill include with a large flower in polka dotted silhouette. One of the sentiments reads “There is no gift so fine as the conscious act of grace and kindness.”
Godby (God-be) with Us Stamper SHERRIE BRYANT made the lovely card you see here. Besides the polka dot embossing to coordinate with the polka dots in the flower, Sherrie’s card has a couple of other notable elements.
Does the shape of the Soft Suede Card Stock look at all familiar? Sherrie layered the Word Window Punch die-cut piece with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch! How clever.
I bet you think the element to be pointed out next are the tiny Basic Pearl Jewels on the butterfly. Of course, I love that. But, what sets the die-cut butterfly in the shadow behind it. It almost looks like a shadow was created. Instead Sherrie gave in some contrast by layering it onto another die-cut butterfly with the Bitty Butterfly Punch in Soft Suede Card Stock.
It is the extra touches Sherrie added that took this basic card template and made it into a very lovely handmade card. Often I write about the “little something extra” that will make your handmade cards stand out. The creative layering did exactly that for her Gifts of Kindness card.
