In yesterday’s post I asked what you do with your wood mount blocks after you have converted your stamp sets from wood mount stamps to clear mount?

Godby (God-be) with Us Stamper SUZY HOWARD shared what she does, with pictures!

“Here is the way I up-cycled my old wooden blocks when I went to clear mount stamps.
I drilled a hole in the top of the block, then, stuck in the wooden handle with a little wood glue.

I then cut some Cut-n-Dry foam to the size of the blocks and adhered Velcro, (the rougher side of the Velcro to the block), and the fuzzy side to the foam.

Next I wrote my ink color on the side of the foam block so I don’t pick up Early Espresso instead of Soft Suede.  Now, just attach the Velcro together and use your new inking tool.  Change pads when you change colors.  I have about 16 of the blocks, and at least one pad for each color of ink.

I included a shot of one of my scrapbook layouts that I am working on so you can see how I used the inking tool to apply the Soft Suede to my page edges.  I hope this explains it all Shelly, and if you have further questions, just let me know!  I really enjoy watching your videos and getting inspiration from you.”

Very pretty scrapbook page!  I did have a follow up question for Suzy:  “The advantage I can see over the sponge daubers is the larger area you can cover.  Are there other advantages too?”

“I do find them easier to use on larger projects, and they are awesome for doing techniques where you are perhaps masking and sponging.  Like with Lovely as a Tree with a moon above the trees, you add color gradually, starting off the glossy cardstock, switch to a darker shade, and so on.  Much easier than the sponge daubers, which I also love, lol.”

A big inky hug for Suzy for sharing what she does with her wood mount blocks!

You will be pleased to also learn the Cut -n- Dry Foam is quite inexpensive.  I found it for you, of all places, at Walmart!  As of this posting, it is only $4.76 for an 8″ x 10″ sheet.

Please be sure to contact me if you have any questions.
