You see a pretty card like this Stampin’ Up! Festival of Trees card and think how pretty it is. Only after that do you realize how simple it is. Clean and simple and pretty.
One characteristic I’ve noticed about a great clean and simple card is neatness. For example, the On Point embossed Whisper White Cardstock layer is layered equal distance from each edge of the Whisper White Cardstock base.
Another element the card artist from the Founder’s Circle swap did well was punching out the Christmas tree with the Tree Punch. The white border is equal on both sides. The tree stand she cut out by hand and also has an equal white border. And the bird. She did a fantastic job leaving an even white border around the bird.
Did she discard some tress that were not punched quite equally all around? Looking at the care she took with this card that was one of approximately 114, I’m sure she did. It would have only taken a matter of a couple of seconds to stamp another. The the care she took to be neat made for one stupendous clean and simple Christmas card!

Another easy way to step up a card is to add dimension. You do that with Stampin’ Dimensionals are little self-adhesive foam dots. Our card artist used Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the Christmas tree, Christmas tree stand, banner and red bird.
A little sparkle never hurts either. She did that by punching a star out of Silver Glimmer Paper to sit on top of the tree.
