Easter brings to mind the cherished gospel hymn The Old Rugged Cross. Watch to see how I made my Easter card with the Stampin’ Up! Blessed by God Stamp Set.

Handmade Easter Card with Stampin' Up! Blessed by God www.stampingsmiles.comMy handmade Easter card is a great example of why we collect a variety of stamp sets. Using the sun from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set, the small hill from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set and greeting and sentiments from the Indescribable Gift Stamp Set all worked together for card that reminds of why we’re celebrating Easter.

Wikipedia reads that George Bennard wrote the Old Rugged Cross in 1912. Over 100 years ago, and it’s still  one of most well known and beloved hymn of many.

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

  • Refrain:
    So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it someday for a crown.

Remember I said in the video Reed City, MI built a museum that still operates today dedicated to George Bennard’s life and ministry? I took a picture of it this afternoon.
