Please replace the cap on your Fine Tip Glue Pen

The design of the Fine Tip Glue Pen is brilliant. A small needle in the cap is inserted into the fine tip to prevent the glue pen from clogging. And it works beautifully. But please do replace the cap on your Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Here’s what happened. I was working on a handmade card for the Stamping Playground while waiting for my husband to finish getting ready so we could leave. The door bell ran. I got up to see who had stopped by. As soon as she left I grabbed my purse and left leaving my project was temporarily abandoned.

The next day I discovered that I had not replaced the cap on my Fine Tip Glue Pen when my crafting was interrupted by the door bell. Well, that turned out to be a big mistake. No matter how hard I tried, I could not fully feed the needle into the fine tip. It wasn’t for a lack of trying. Look at the bent needle.

It was clogged and clogged good. I asked my husband if he could straighten the needle. He was successful. But I knew I still needed to get the glue out of the fine tip. I poured boiling hot water into the cap (holding it with tongs).

Boiling hot water was run through until the water was clear. Still no luck. Next I filled the cap with lighter fluid. Lighter fluid probably seems like a strange choice. I always have at least one bottle on hand because I grew up using it t remove adhesive. Still no luck.

At first I was thinking I’d need to toss the bottle and was glad it was far from new and inexpensive. A new Fine Tip Glue Pen is on its way to replace it, but there isn’t any need to throw away the one with the clogged tip. The glue is just fine. One day I’ll use the tip from the new bottle on the first bottle.

And always remember to replace the cap – even if the doorbell rings. 🙂
