Is this the year? Is it time for a Stampin’ Up! color refresh? Will some of your favorite exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors retire? I believe so and here’s why.
The number one reason is that Stampin’ Up! stated they would refresh, their word for change the core colors, every three to five years. It’s been five years since the last change to the four Color Collections.
Frankly, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t happen this year. Not because Stampin’ Up! has confided in me there will be a changing; I’m simply taking them at their word and seventeen years of color refreshes. We’ll know for sure when the retiring stamp sets and accessories lists are released in April.
If we see ink pads, cardstock and refills from the Brights, Neutrals, Regals, and Subtles Collections on the retiring accessories list, there will be a frenzy of ordering! The reason is all retiring accessories become only while supplies last the moment the retiring list is released. We’ve even seen retiring In Color refills selling out BEFORE the retiring list came out.
Ink refills are typically the first to sell out.
Followed by cardstock.
This observation may help narrow down the colors to order first. The colors most likely to be “safe” are Stampin’ Blends colors. It doesn’t seem likely Stampin’ Up! would retire any of the colors of Stampin’ Blends with five months of their release.
It may not be the year for a color change, but if it is you now have my speculations and recommendations. The 2018 Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration special will reward you for stocking up my March 31, 2018.

I did not find anything you say about this, Shelly. There is just the picture..nothing said by you. Is this a “teaser” to us??
The link has been added to what I wrote about it. Sorry, I thought it was there. Thank you for letting me know!
I would like to see a better, brighter green added to the Brights and move Old Olive to the Regals. I miss Coastal Cabana but glad I can still use it, as I am not a demo. Would like to see Sweet Sugarplum kept and not retired.
It’s possible Sweet Sugarplum will become a core color. With the last color refresh, all except Smoky Slate, were previous In Colors.
