It’s quite remarkable how we’re able to get intricate and delicate die-cuts with Thinlits dies. Did you know you can use the same dies to emboss cardstock too? Today I’m demonstrating my tips for embossing with Thinlits dies.

Did you watch to the end to see my Stampin’ Up! Abstract Impressions card with the stepped-up embossed cardstock? If not, you want to go back now to see it!
The goal is to emboss your cardstock without cutting through it. As promised, I’ve added the embossing sandwich so you don’t have to read the small print on the instructions included with the Big Shot Embossing Mats. The shim that worked better with my Big Shot is listed and noted with if needed. You’ll want to experiment and use the sandwich without it first.

You’re welcome.
Loved your video..card was beautiful
Thank you!
I love this tutorial and the look. I’m not a fan of yellows but this was lovely. It encouraged me to think ‘yellow’ more for my cards too. I don’t have a big shot…just a cuttlebug and really don’t want to buy a big shot. I’ll have to play with the ‘cuttlebug’ to get this result I suppose. Maybe I’ll eventually get the big shot.
The card layered with the embossed and cut pieces was so dramatic for sure. Will get me to think a bit more about what ‘dies’ CAN do too.
I like the added info on how to open the ‘Stampin Up’ stamp pads. I don’t have any yet as have acquired a few other types but when I go to some ‘creative classes’ closing the stamp pads has always been an issue, lol. Nice tip.
This was very informative and thorough. Thank you for a lovely tutorial.

Beautiful card! Will this method work with the embossing /die cutting machine in the current catalog?
