The swirly frames are the main attraction in the Stampin’ Up! Sweetly Swirled Stamp Set. For my clean and simple card idea, I used the flowers and one of the greetings with the Follow Your Art Washi Tape.
The trickiest part of this clean and simple card idea was getting the flowers just right. I tried many, many times and then decided the secret was to use the masking technique. Masking is easy. Stamp first the image you want out front. Stamp it again on a piece of scrap paper, not cardstock, and trim. Apply temporary adhesive. My favorite is Dotto Repositionable Adhesive. Stampin’ Up! used to carry it. The stopped, but I didn’t stop using it. 🙂 You can see it HERE.
Apply temporary adhesive to the piece stamped on scrap paper. That’s the mask. Then you can stamp the Coastal Cabana flower. A second mask was made for the second flower before stamping the last in Calypso Coral. Leave both in place and stamp the stem and leaves also from the Stampin’ Up! Sweetly Swirled Stamp Set.
The colors of the flowers are all from the three designs of the Follow Your Art Washi Tape. Even if you’re a neat freak like me, there’s just something more appealing about washi tape with a ragged, torn edge. Neat and tidy just wouldn’t do. 🙂
A Coastal Cabana Glitter Enamel Dot and Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine add the finishing touches to my clean and simple card.
