Day one of my three-day fast went as I expected. It went quite smoothly.
I drank water, green tea, and for the first time, electrolytes. I felt fine and continued to feel good into my second day.
My doctor told me not to do vigorous exercise during the multi-day fast. I walk briskly every day. She didn’t reply if that was considered vigorous. I did my usual brisk 30-minute walk, stretching my too-tight hamstrings and IT bands, and a pilates session. I wimped out on getting some additional exercise by working in the yard. It’s a little chilly for this time of the year. Tomorrow.
Hunger was minimal. I read it’s common to experience hunger at regular meal times. Our bodies are trained. No stomach rumblings. 🙂 I decided to continue taking most of my supplements. Thank goodness nothing upset my stomach while empty.
One of my sweet stampers called. She plans to start doing an intermittent fast too. I recommended starting with a 12 or 14-hour window of not eating and then working up to an 18-hour. There are increased benefits with each additional hour you can add. Doing something is better than nothing.
If you sleep eight hours a night, that only leaves ten active hours of fasting. When thought about that, I bet it sounds like something one can reasonably do while pursuing a healthier body. No pressure, just food for thought. Okay, that’s funny. “Food for thought” while not eating. I crack myself up. Mental clarity is doing well.
Please get in touch with me if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance to you.
