The first two handmade greeting cards I posted with the title of How to Use the Scrapbook Paper You’ve Been Hoarding were elegant and pretty. This one with the Stampin’ Up! Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is simply adorable! As a friend often says about something she really like is, “It’s so good, it will make you want to slap your momma!” That means she really, really likes it.

This is the first time I used 6″ x 6″ scrapbook paper for this style of card. You will be able to get one DIY card like this from each sheet. You will, however, have a 2″ x 6″ piece to use on additional cards. A two inch strip is my most used size. You will six 4″ x 6″ pieces with a piece of 12″ x 12″ scrapbook paper, I showed how to cut it in my video tutorial with the Wildly Flowering 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper.

Tear or cut the 4″ x 6″ scrapbook paper at approximately 1-3/4″ to achieve two coordinating patterns. Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP) is double-sided. That is not necessarily true of Specialty DSP. It’s common for the two sides to compliment each other but not a given. I cut the 8-1/2″ x 11″ Pretty Peacock Cardstock into two 4-1/4″ x 11″ pieces with it scored (creased) in half with the opening at the bottom. Why? So the ribbon can be wrapped around the front of the card instead of around the DSP. It’s sturdier than most you find in stores, but still not as heavy, by definition, as cardstock. Just DSP would buckle under the tension of a tight bow.

Add a greeting and ribbon (Pretty in Pink 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon) wrapped around where the two patterns meet, and you’ll be just ducky. 🙂

My Happy Birthday greeting in the script font is from the Stampin’ Up! Unbounded Love Stamp Set. It’s the same one as I used on the Wildly Flowering DSP card and my Unbounded  Beauty 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper card. It’s interesting the same font is appropriate for all three. As cute as the Stampin’ Up! Lily Pond Lane DSP is, there is still a hint of elegance.
