. . .when you choose colors other than the traditional reds and pinks.   My inspiration of colors came from the Stampin' Up! Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper from the 2013 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

The colors used from the Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper on the Valentine card are Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler.   In the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, the neutral color is listed as Very Vanilla.  The neutral color in this pattern looked a lot more like Whisper White than Very Vanilla to me.  Right, wrong or indifferent, Whisper White is the color I went with.

The striped banner very much had potential to be manly.  Not Quite Navy Classic Stampin' Pad ink on Not Quite Navy Card Stock certainly provides a masculine feel.  The striped banner was stamped and die-cut with the Hearts a Flutter Bundle (stamp set and Framelits bundled for 15% savings through May 31, 2013).

This card would also be nice if you wanted to send a card to your son or brother.  Instead of the Delightful Dozen stamp, I would prefer a different Valentine's Day greeting.  The "Love You" would be appropriate from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set carried over into the Spring Catalog from the Holiday Catalog.

The heart on the striped banner was die-cut with one of the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies out of Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper.  A little red to capture Valentine's Day without being overwhelmed with it.

The die-cut heart with the greeting is the same designer paper with the stripes in the opposite direction, was created with the Small Heart Punch.

Wanting texture, manly texture, the Chevron Embossing Folder was the answer.  Nothing frilly going on there.

The Stampin' Up! Hearts a Flutter Bundle can easily be used to make feminine cards, but, as you can see, it can also be used to make a masculine Valentine's Day card.  Hearts a Flutter is, hands down, the most ordered product ordered by my customers from the 2013 Spring Catalog.
