On Saturday I took Master Gardener Mom for a day of shopping. While at one of our favorite stores, Bed, Bath & Beyond, I first spotted a tissue holder with the same pattern as the Stampin’ Up! Lattice Bigz Die and then the coordinating shower curtain. Well, that simply had to be turned into a handmade card. The card below is a great replica of that shower curtain. Even the Calypso Coral Card Stock is spot on.
Besides Calypso Coral and the Lattice Bigz Die, the other Stampin’ imitator were the stripes at the bottom. They were easily made with the Stampin’ Up! Stripes Embossing Folder in the Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (the same machine that die-cut the lattice). I embossed the bottom 1-1/2″ of the 4-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ Whisper White Card Stock and then adhered the Lattice die-cuts. One full die-cut and 1/4 of a second.
For my coordinating something-something inside, I used just part of the die-cut from the Lattice Bigz Die. Looks nice, don’t you think?
When taking a picture of my shower curtain card, I thought it needed something else. A greeting sure would be nice. At this point, normally I would have added the little something extra and then taken the picture. Instead, I heeded the advice of Godby (God-be) with Us Stamper Patricia Pawlowski. She thought it would be a good idea to show you my cards before I decided it needed something more. I usually get too caught up to remember to stop and take the picture. Not this time.
On a 3/4″ x 3-1/2″ of Whisper White Card Stock, I stamped the “so kind of you” stamp from the Stampin’ Up! Sweet Essentials stamp set in Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Pad ink. Two little snips with the Paper Snips to make the fishtail. The sweet, uncomplicated font compliments the lattice. Fonts have different personalities. I like owning a lot of greeting stamp sets so to have one that will fit just right with the style of my card. And, it just so happens that the Sweet Essential stamp set is 25% off in my online store www.shopwithshelly.com through June 30, 2013. But only until then.
My handmade card needed that little something extra. That little something extra is my favorite new accessory – Candy Dots. Look at how just one of the Calypso Coral dots from the Subtles Candy Dots stepped this card up. It usually is a simple as added a self-adhesive, color coordinated dot to make you card extra special.
