Being new to Washi Tape, I am having fun playing around with it. This handmade You’re Amazing birthday card started off as simply wanting to create something to fit into one of the new Crumb Cake Note Card Envelopes. It started by making a 3-1/2″ x 5″ note card (5″ x 7″ scored in half at 3-1/2″) from 8-1/2″ x 11 Crumb Cake Card Stock. Off to a good start with Crumb Cake being one of the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. The idea to emboss on Washi Tape came later.
The are three rolls of Washi Tape included in the package of Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. All three were used on this handmade masculine birthday card. The insert reads it contains 5 yards. We can decorate a lot of cards with that! Unlike ribbon, it, at most, goes from edge to edge and not tied entirely around with a bow or knot making the 5 yards go farther than you’d first think.
In this picture you can see the three patterns of Washi Tape and the embossing much better. The Basic Gray striped Washi Tape from the Epic Day pack is butted up to the Calypso Coral row. A row of Crumb Cake Washi Tape was put right down the middle of both. It is sheer, allowing the patterns of the other two to show through a Crumb Cake haze.
How about that embossing? It was supposed to be embossed and turned out de-bossed. Too busy making sure the Stampin’ Up! Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder was straight and forgot to make sure it was in the right position. But, I choose to think of this as a happy accident. The de-bossing is well suited for what turned out to be a handmade masculine birthday card.
The 1/2″ x 5″ strip of printed paper along the bottom is from the Stampin’ Up! Epic Day Designer Series Paper. It picked up all the colors: Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Basic Gray. Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to coordinate our papers, inks and embellishments for cards that make us look so good.
Recently I have written about how I like to use a font to match the style or personality of my cards. The “Happy Birthday” stamp from the Stampin’ Up! You’re Amazing stamp set is a great choice for a masculine birthday card greeting.
Of course, my favorite new accessory must be pointed out. The Calypso Coral splash of color on either side of “Happy” was provided with a self-adhesive Subtles Candy Dots. In each package we get 10 each of the colors in the Collection. The look of a brad without the bulk!
